10. What do the various menu options in the Settings window mean?

  • Update: Manually triggers an immediate update of hotspot data.
  • Reset: Removes all hotspot data and subscription information from the Boingo Mobile client (effectively a “factory reset” option). Boingo does not recommend that end users activate this setting unless instructed by a member of the Boingo Customer Care team.
  • Auto Update: When this option is checked, the Boingo Mobile client automatically and regularly updates your device with the latest Boingo hotspots. This item's default setting is “enabled” (recommended).
  • Auto Connect: When this option is checked, the Boingo Mobile client automatically connects to a recognized profile without the user having to click on Connect. Profiles are ranked, so the higher ones will be selected first if multiple signals are detected. This item's default setting is “enabled” (recommended).
  • Logging: Check this option if you have trouble using the Boingo Mobile client and would like to document your connection attempts for the Boingo Mobile Customer Care team. The logging option saves a series of files to a special directory (My Device\Application Data\Boingo Mobile\Boingo\Data) which you can then send to the Boingo Mobile Customer Care team for analysis. This item's default setting is “disabled” (recommended).
  • Cancel: Click to exit out of the menu.
