How do I download and install Boingo Mobile software to my Sony Ericsson handset?
- Download Boingo Mobile software here. You can download the software directly to your phone through an open hotspot or cellular data connection. You can also download the software to your PC and then transfer the file to your phone via the manufacturer supplied USB cable or via a Bluetooth connection.
- Using a USB cable:
- Transfer the Boingo Mobile .sis file onto your phone's memory (make certain to note the location of the file).
- Disconnect your phone from the USB connection.
- On your phone, go to the File Manager application and navigate to the location where you placed the .sis file.
- Click on the Boingo Mobile file icon and the installation will proceed. Please follow the prompts to complete the installation.
- Using Bluetooth:
- Enable Bluetooth on your phone: Settings/Control Panel>Connectivity/Connection>Bluetooth.
- On your computer, open the appropriate Bluetooth application. The application should provide a "Wireless File Transfer" option, which allows you to search for and select Bluetooth devices to connect and send files to.
- Once you have successfully transferred the Boingo Mobile application to your phone, select "View" and the install process will begin.

How do I sign up for a Boingo Mobile subscription?
- Via your Sony Ericsson device: sign up for an account by opening the Boingo Mobile application and selecting Sign up Now! When you have completed the signup process, your device will update with the latest hotspot settings.
- Via your laptop: visit https://my.mobile.boingo.com/sonyericsson/signup.html. Once you have completed the signup process, open Boingo Mobile on your Sony Ericsson handset, go to Settings, and enter the username and password you created. Your device will update with the latest hotspot settings.

How do I connect to a Boingo Mobile hotspot?
- First, make sure you are in a Boingo Mobile Hotspot (find one here: mobile.boingo.com/locations).
- Second, make sure that Wi-Fi is enabled via your device's connection manager. These controls differ by manufacturer; consult the documentation that came with your device for details.
- If you're in a Boingo Mobile hotspot and Wi-Fi is enabled on your device, Boingo Mobile should automatically connect you. If there is no connection after a few minutes, go to the Control Panel menu, click on the Boingo Mobile icon, and select Scan for Hotspots. Once you are connected, the Scan for Hotspots option will be replaced by the Disconnect option.

Why does my Wi-Fi connection sometimes turn off on its own?
- By default, your Wi-Fi connection will turn off after 5 minutes of no Internet traffic. To change this setting:
- On the G900: Menu>Settings>Connections>Internet accounts>More>Options
- On the W960i: Control Panel>Connections>Internet accounts>More>Options
- On the P1i: Control Panel>Internet accounts>More>Options
- Click on Dial-up timeout and select a new Wi-Fi timeout duration.

Sometimes, when I go to a Boingo Mobile location, I don't see the Boingo network. What should I do to connect?
- If you don't see the Boingo network right away, wait for a short period of time (less than 5 minutes) so the WLAN scanner can find us, or select Scan for Hotspots located in the Boingo Mobile application menu.

Why do I sometimes see a blank web page after trying to connect to a Boingo network?
- If your device was unable to obtain an IP address or the wireless access point was not behaving properly, the browser will show a blank page. The best thing to do is to try to connect again. If the problem persists, please send us an email with your location, the date, and the time, and we'll investigate the network.

If I change my username or password via my laptop at http://my.mobile.boingo.com, do I need to update Boingo Mobile?
- Yes, if you change your username or password via your laptop at my.mobile.boingo.com, your hotspot data will not get updated on the phone until you enter your new username and/or password on the phone as well.
- To do so, open the Boingo Mobile application on your phone, select Settings and enter your new username and/or password. Once you have done this, your phone will be updated with your new user credentials.

Can I install the Boingo Mobile client from a Macintosh to a Sony Ericsson phone?
- Yes, you can install Boingo Mobile from your Macintosh to your Sony Ericsson device using Bluetooth. Once Boingo Mobile is moved to your phone, the installation will begin automatically.

After I re-boot my phone, how long should I wait before starting Boingo Mobile?
- After the phone restarts, the Boingo Mobile application will take approximately 30 to 45 seconds to initialize. If you try to start the application within this time, you may see an error message. If you do, start the application again and it will work fine. The best thing to do is to wait 30 to 45 seconds after re-boot before starting Boingo Mobile.

How do I manually update the configuration version of Boingo Mobile software?
- Ensure that you have an active Internet connection available (it need not be a Boingo connection).
- Open the Boingo Mobile client application.
- Select More (in the lower right corner).
- Select Hotspot directory.
- Select Update.
- This process may take a few minutes.
