How do I download and install Boingo Mobile software to my iPhone/iPod Touch?

You can download the software directly to your device via the App Store. Find Boingo in the “Productivity” or “Utilities” category or simply do a search for “Boingo.” An open Wi-Fi hotspot or cellular data connection is required to download the software and sign up for the service.

You can also download the software to your PC via iTunes and then transfer the file to your device by performing a sync through the USB cable.

How do I sign up for a Boingo Mobile subscription?

Via your iPhone/iPod Touch:

  1. First, connect to the Internet via an open Wi-Fi hotspot, your cellular data connection, or your home or office network.
  2. Launch Boingo from the home screen.
  3. If you are an existing Boingo Mobile subscriber, tap on I Have an Account and enter your username and password. If you are a new subscriber, tap on Sign Up Now. You will be re-directed to a Boingo website where you can create your account. Please note that a valid credit card is required to establish your account.
  4. Re-launch Boingo and tap on I Have an Account.
  5. Enter your username and password, tap on Done. Once you have created an account through the Boingo Mobile application, your username and password will be automatically saved.

Via your laptop:

  1. Visit www.boingo.com/apple.
  2. Go through the signup process online.
  3. Once you have completed the signup process on your laptop, open Boingo Mobile on your iPhone/iPod Touch.
  4. Tap on I Have an Account .
  5. Enter the username and password you created on your PC.

How do I connect to a Boingo Mobile hotspot?

  • Turn on Wi-Fi from the iPhone/iPod Touch Settings menu.
  • Select a Boingo-supported network. Click here to view Boingo Mobile locations with associated operators (under “Details”).
  • Launch Boingo from the iPhone’s home screen and select “Login” (this button appears only if you have selected a Boingo-supported network).

Do I have to select a Boingo-supported network through my iPhone/iPod Touch’s Settings menu every time I connect?

  • If you have never before connected to a specific Boingo-supported network (e.g., BT Openzone), then you must select that network the first time you want to connect via Boingo Mobile.
  • If you have previously connected to a specific Boingo-supported network, (e.g., BT Openzone), then it is unnecessary to select that network again – the iPhone/iPod Touch will automatically select that network for all associated locations (provided that Wi-Fi is turned on). All you need to do is launch the Boingo software to connect.

Can I connect to Boingo Mobile with my Boingo laptop account (e.g., Boingo AsYouGo, Boingo Unlimited, or Boingo Global)?

No, Boingo Mobile requires an additional subscription and is not included in your laptop account. Your laptop username and password will not work for Boingo Mobile logins.

What should I do if I am having difficulty connecting?

  • Make sure that Wi-Fi is turned on from the iPhone/iPod Touch Settings menu.
  • Change the currently selected network from the iPhone/iPod Touch Settings menu: Wi-Fi>Choose a Network.
  • Move your position within the hotspot. Our software measures the signal strength to ensure that you have a great Wi-Fi Internet experience with Boingo. Sometimes, the Wi-Fi signal may be too weak at certain places within a hotspot. Try moving your location slightly and then try tapping the Login button again.
  • Send us an email from the Boingo Setting menu. Feel free to include additional details (such as your location and what you saw happen) at the top of the message body to help us diagnose the problem. We will review your email and contact you with an update as soon as possible.

If I change my username or password via my PC at http://my.mobile.boingo.com, do I need to update Boingo Mobile on my device?

  • Yes, if you change your username or password via your PC at my.mobile.boingo.com, you need to update your new username and/or password on the device as well
  • To do so, open the Boingo Mobile application, go to Settings by tapping on the “i” icon located in the lower right corner of the screen, and change your credentials under Account.

What are the Advanced options in the Boingo Mobile Settings menu?

The Advanced options are special functions that our Customer Care team may ask you to access in the unlikely event you have difficulty with Boingo Mobile. Do not tap these buttons unless specifically instructed to do so by a Boingo Customer Care representative. Doing so at other times may cause your iPhone/iPod Touch to stop working with Boingo.
