1. How do I download and install Boingo Mobile software to my Android device?

  • Download Boingo Mobile software directly to your Android device from the Android Marketplace.
  • Select the Market icon from the device’s Application List.
  • Select the Search option and type “Boingo” in the search field.
  • Select the free Boingo application and then select “Install.” You should see an alert in the notification bar when the software has been successfully installed.
  • Locate the installed Boingo software in your Applications List.

2. How do I sign up for a Boingo Mobile subscription?

  • There are two ways you can sign up for a Boingo Mobile subscription:
    • From your Android device: launch the installed Boingo software and select “Sign Up Now.”
    • From your laptop:
      • Go to https://mobile.boingo.com/signup.
      • Once you have completed signup, launch the installed Boingo software from your device.
      • Select “I Have an Account” and enter the username and password you created during the signup process.

3. How do I connect to a Boingo Mobile hotspot?

  • The Boingo software automatically detects when you are in a Boingo hotspot. When at a Boingo location, an alert will appear in the notification bar. If, for some reason, you do not see an alert but you think you may be in a Boingo hotspot, simply launch the application.
  • If you see a “Use Boingo here!” message, then you are indeed in a Boingo location. To connect, select “Login.”
  • When the software has successfully connected the device, you will see a “Presto! You’re online.” message.
  • Select “Launch Browser” and you are ready to surf the web.

4. Can I set up Boingo Mobile to connect to my home and business Wi-Fi networks?

  • The Boingo Mobile software detects and connects you only to Boingo hotspots. The application will not conflict with the ability to connect to home and business Wi-Fi networks that you set up through the device’s Wi-Fi settings.

5. If I change my username or password via my laptop at https://my.mobile.boingo.com, do I need to update Boingo Mobile on my Android device?

  • Yes, if you change your username or password via your laptop at https://my.mobile.boingo.com, you must update your credentials in order to connect on your device.
  • To do so, open the Boingo Mobile application, and press the Menu button to display the Options menu. Select “Account” and re-enter your updated username/password.

6. Do I need to turn on Wi-Fi via my phone’s connection manager in order for Boingo Mobile to connect me?

  • If the Boingo application is open and Wi-Fi is turned off, the application will prompt you to turn on Wi-Fi directly from the application before connecting you.
  • If the Boingo application is not open and Wi-Fi is disabled, you will not be able to connect nor will you receive notifications that you are in a Boingo hotspot.

7. If my device goes to sleep while I am connected in a Boingo hotspot, do I have to re-connect to Boingo?

  • Yes, if your device goes to sleep while you are in a Boingo hotspot, you will have to re-launch the Boingo Mobile application and re-connect. If, however, your device goes to sleep and you travel to another Boingo hotspot (or leave and come back to the same hotspot), you should see an automatic alert in the notification bar that Boingo is available.

8. Which languages are supported by Boingo Mobile for Android?

  • Currently, Boingo Mobile for Android is only available in English. Have a request for another language? Let us know by sending an email to: mobilesupport@boingo.com.

9. Am I able to connect to Boingo Mobile with my Boingo laptop account (e.g., Boingo AsYouGo, Boingo Unlimited, or Boingo Global)?

  • No, Boingo Mobile is a separate subscription and is not included in your laptop account (your laptop username and password will not work for Boingo Mobile logins). We will, however, be introducing bundled Wi-Fi plans (one account for laptop and mobile device) in the future.

10. What are the “Advanced” options in the Boingo Mobile Settings menu?

  • The “Advanced” options are special functions that our Customer Care team may ask you to access in the event you have difficulty with Boingo Mobile. Do not tap these buttons unless specifically instructed to do so by a Boingo Customer Care representative. Doing so at other times may cause your Android device to stop working with Boingo.
